This guide is part of the Raspberry Pi Essentials tutorial and will help you through the process for downloading and installing the Raspberry Pi Imager required for setting up your Raspberry Pi.
Download the Imager
You can get the latest version from the Raspberry Pi OS Download page. We use the Windows version for this tutorial, but you can choose whichever works best for your environment. The computer you run the imager on must have an SD card reader. I have a USB adaptor that accepts and SD card.
Launch the Installer
Launch the installer. If running from a Windows desktop, you will be presented with an alert that the app is going to make configuration changes.
Click Yes
Begin the Installation
The installation wizard will guide you through the process. Note that this application is very simple and there are no customization options available.
Click Install
Wait for the Install
The installation process will only take a minute or so to complete.
Run the Imager
Upon completion of the installation, you are all done. Be sure the box to Run Raspberry Pi Imager is checked.
Click Finish
You can now proceed to the next section to Write the OS to the SD card or you can return to the Raspberry Pi Essentials tutorial.
